Cerling, who has lived in Houston for more than four decades, began to print in the 1980s in Little Egypt Enterprise, a Houston shop that created print and other editioned artworks opened by David Folkman in 1974. (Folkman moved his original shop from Illinois to Houston.) While Folkman focused a lot of attention on lithography, Cerling developed a flair for intaglio printing and worked with a wide range of artists in addition to printing her own work. During the 1980s, she developed a robust program at Little Egypt and then opened her own print shop, Cerling Etching Studio in the 1990s. Cerling continues to make her own work, now primarily drawing, and exhibits in Houston.
