Liontas-Warren recently added twenty-seven prints and drawings to her AP/RC collection. One aspect of her donation of particular interest are works from the early 1980s. These works envelop and manipulate spatial illusions, moving backward and forward through arched passageways, flipping linear perspective, generously using trompe l’oeil, turning flat shapes into oblique shapes, and juxtaposing light and dark “spatial windows”. As some of the titles suggest, these classically structured explorations of rational and illusive space play with our perceptions of believability, edging into arenas of dreamscapes.
